SMF100J-5 4.25"x9.75" is 5 micron, while FXHSC is 30 or 35 micron. 5 micron well stop smaller particles. You will get 8-10 gal/min.

ReplyDeleteThanks for your advice earlier, I bought two (you can't easily wash one without running water, eh?) and am very satisfied.
Now, how do you wash these? I let it dry out and went at it with a stiff nylon brush but it doesn't seem to do anything. It looks like your run-of-the-mill rust and other particulate. Is there some kind of safe solvent that would break it up?

Stiff nylon brush should do the job.

- As it's polyester material you can use some general household cleaning solvents
- Try to backwash with garden hose ( jet water from inside of the cartridge)
- if nothing helps- buy new one ;)
