Portable fluoride filters?

Does GSS-Mini-A Personal Emergency Gravity (drip) Water Filter take out fluoride. If not can I add another portable filter to it? What other filters do you recommend for traveling to south east Asia and S America?
The GSS-Mini filters do not have fluoride removal capability.
Do they add fluoride to the water in SE Asia and S America?
Our larger portable filters can be taken to those locations and you can add the 2"x4" Specialty fluoride filters to the GSS2 systems (all located on the following link, including "add-on" fluoride filters)

Home filters that remove fluoride as well as chlorine

I found your listing in some "Green" Magazine and would like to learn more about your website offering.  Do you have any home filters that remove fluoride as well as chlorine from the water?
Yes, the Regent II filter located on the following link will remove the chlorine, chemicals, heavy-metals, fluoride, micro-organisms, suspended solids and more: http://doultonusa.com/doulton_water_filters/Imperial-high-flowrate-RegentII.htm

Flouride/heavy metal Reduction Element CN-B2

I am wondering what the fluoride reduction capacity of the Fluoride/heavy metal reduction element is?
The capacity of the CN-B2 candle is 400-600 gallons (6 months for 4  person household).

Filters for chlorine and fluoride

I am inquiring about your Dual Countertop water filters. I have been researching filters for quite some time and have been looking for something that filters chlorine and fluoride among other hings. I currently have city water but have been buying jugs of water due to the taste. I've looked at Nikken, I've looked at the Berkey, and many other filters. While reading the multitude of reviews your company was recommended as one of the leading in water filters. I'm skeptical about the Berkey and quite frankly don't have the space, a countertop filter would better suit my needs I think. I'm just wondering about the warranty. It says for registered customers it's covered for 3 years. Does that mean that as long as I register the product, then it is covered? Do I have to purchase it through you to be a registered customer?
To become a registered customer and to receive the three year warranty provided by us, you must purchase the unit directly from Doultonusa.com. At that point, you will have become a registered customer. No need to do anything else.

Under counter Water Filters

Can you tell me what the difference is between your under counter water filter and a 5 stage reverse osmosis system? I am looking to remove fluoride from my water. Can you also send me a list of the specific contaminants/chemicals that your system removes and the percentage of removal?
Also, does your system require a storage tank? If not, why not?
This is a good link which educates you on the difference in water treatment technologies: http://doultonusa.com/HTML%20pages/water_treatment_technologies.htm.
For fluoride removal you will need a Doulton 200 series under counter filter, IP200UC+. It does not require a storage tank because (unlike R.O.) it produces water on demand at a steady 1/2 gallon per minute. R.O. requires storage tank because it wastes 3-4 gallons for every gallon of water it produces. The 200 series filter will contain 2 cartridges within. The specs for these cartridges are on the links: http://doultonusa.com/ultracarb_imperial_cartridge.pdf (Ultracarb ceramic candle) and http://doultonusa.com/Inorganic%20elements%20specs/A-2_Element.pdf (fluoride specific candle).

Nitrate Filters For Gravity Filters

gss2- i want nitrate protection also...how do i configure the gss2?
do i run water through supersterasyl candles and then replace supersterasyl candles with nitrate candles and run it through again?
The 2"x4" Nitrate filters connect to the SuperSterasyl filters at the UNDERSIDE of the upper chamber. We provide it with a coupler that connects the two kinds of candles together so that the water goes through BOTH filter elements. Please see

Do the Specialty Element Filters Work with the GSS-Min

Do you make any flouide/arsenic/MTBE filters to fit the personal GSS-Mini which takes a Doulton 2x7 Supersterasyl candle?
Unfortunately, because of the size constraints, those specialty element filters will not fit a personal traveler filter.

Countertop Filter for Fluoride Removal

Please advise if your water filter does remove fluoride from the water. I have been looking for one that does this and was told your countertop filter did take most of the fluoride out. Can you please let me know?
CP200UC plus countertop filter, in which we carry, that will infact significantly reduce levels of fluoride, would be the following item: http://doultonusa.com/HTML%20pages/cp200sc_plus.htm.

Fluoride Reduction Water Filter

I am trying to decide on purchasing your countertop dual candle water filter especially for it's fluoride removal option. I am trying to ascertain how much fluoride it removes and if that is only the man-made fluoride or also naturally occurring fluoride as well. Another competing brand with a similar dual candle filter system, claims to remove only man-made fluoride and that it would take thousands of dollars more to get a system that removes both man-made and naturally occurring. So I am wondering if that is the case for your system as well.
The  filter will remove fluoride, both man-made and natural, to a very high degree. There are however, variable which effect how much fluoride is removed, such as; bicarbonates, ph, etc. However, in most cases, you will get non-detectable levels of fluoride for up to 400-600 gallons.

In what order to install water filter cartridges and when to replace.

I have your IS200UC +water filter with the Ultracarb candle in one tank and the CN-B2 flouride/metal reduction candle in the other. I understand that the CN-B2 is not cleanable, but should be replaced every 6 months (which is now). In the flow of water from incoming water to the tap, which filter should be in the first tank?

The B-2 is not cleanable because the shell of the candle is not a filter. The Ultracarb filters from outside/in which means the ceramic membrane acts as the first filter stage and traps the solids.
Eventually, the ceramic memrane (shell) gets dirty and plugged and requires
cleaning http://doultonusa.com/HTML%20pages/cleaning_candle.htm when the flow-rate of water has diminished. Both filters, regardless of cleaning, are recommended to be replaced every 600 gallons (6 months for 4 person house-hold). The B-2 should be implemented into the  first filter housing, followed by the Ultracarb filter in the second housing.

GSS Gravity Fed Water Filtration System

I am interested in buying a water filter. My husband is in the military so we move a lot and rent houses. I think the GSS Gravity Fed System would best meet our needs since we need something
;portable that does not have to be attached to a sink or faucet.

Can you tell me what is filtered by the candle and how often it would need to be replaced? I checked the water stats where we live and radium, chloroform, trihalomethanes and bromodichloromethane
seem to be the chemicals in our water. I also would like to filter flouride.

What is the difference between the Slimline and Imperial Systems?
There are 4 in our family, my husband and I and 2 young children and I want to use the system for drinking and cooking water.

The GSS2 water filter systems would be great for you and your family. Some of the benefits of a gravity-fed filter system is its' portability, slower filtration (which makes the filter media more efficient with added contact time), can be used whenever and wherever there is not a safe reliable water supply (any fresh-water source), and it's versatility of contaminant removal.

The ceramic candles in the system will significantly reduce or remove the chemicals, THMs (by-products of disinfection, which consist of chloroform), chlorine, microbiological contamination (bacteria and cysts), suspended solids (dirt, rust, particulate), etc. For fluoride removal, you would simply need to add-on our "add-on specialty element filters (2"x4" fluoride/metal) to the unit. This set-up should also reduce levels of radium but to what extent is not known or tested so one would advise you not to rely on it for radium removal. Two known (and certified) methods for radium removal are Reverse Osmosis and Ion-exchange (water softeners). These, however,
have their own downfalls.

The Imperial systems simply contain the same canister but larger size ceramic filters within it. The larger filters can produce water faster. The GSS2-IMP (with 2 fluoride/metal filters) should be
sufficient for your 4 person household. The Supersterasyl filters are interchangeable and you can always add or subtract filters from the system, as you go.

Fluoride reduction "add-on" water filter

If I am already using the single canister Doulton Ultracarb ceramic water filter and would like to reduce fluoride, should I just buy the fluoride canister, or is something more required to add the two together?
If you are using a Doulton undersink filter system and would like to "add-on" for fluoride removal to this single housing system, please click on the following link and we will provide you with the necessary items to conveniently connect the two:
http://doultonusa.com/doulton_water_filters/fluoride-arsenic-removal-undersink-upgrade-filter.htm.

As you can see, it simply plugs into your existing filter housing on the inlet side of the install.

Whole-house Fluoride Water Filter Recommendation

We have received and reviewed your Water Analysis you sent via fax. What I would recommend is the following:

For the fluoride removal, you should consider the whole-house fluoride removal system, located here:
http://doultonusa.com/whole_house_water_filters/whole-house-fluoride-removal-filters.htm.

Activated Alumina is widely known and considered to be one of the very best and only means of filtering out fluoride from the water.
Recommended system contains a programmable back-wash valve which will flush out the filter media every 3-4 days.

For your drinking water, it is always recommended that you have a reliable point-of-use filter system. This can be installed directly underneath your sink and it will filter out suspended particles, turbidity, bacteria and cysts (micro-organisms), chlorine, herbicides, insecticides, pesticides, industrial chemicals, disinfectant by-products (THMs), lead (and other heavy-metals).
The fluoride will be already removed by your whole-house system so you would not need any more than the single housing system (100 series),  located here, using Doulton Ultracarb Ceramic Technology:
http://doultonusa.com/HTML%20pages/ip100UC.htm.

I would like a counter top filter that filters MTBE and Fluoride

I would like a counter top filter that filters MTBE, and Fluoride. The local water people add fluoride and I don't want it in my food and water.

I don't have an MTBE problem here, but; I will be using an RV and traveling all over the country, so I want to be prepared. If a filter can stop these two things they will probably stop everything else too.

I don't need many gallons per day at this time. Is the Berkefeld capable of doing what I need? Originally I wanted a distiller. I want the purest water possible without spending seven hundred dollars for a distiller that uses electricity.

If you have any suggestions please let me know. I am open to anything.

In gravity mode British Berkefeld Supersterasyl candles will remove MTBE, VOC's such as pesticides, herbicides and industrial chemicals as well >99.99% e.coli bacteria and 100% cysts such as Cripto and Giardia. As for fluoride we do have specific elements for the gravity filters. They are 4" elements that screws onto the candles nozzle on the under side of the upper chambre.
The 2 candle system will produce about 10 gallons per day and source water can be anything other than raw sewage and sea water.

We have owned and appreciated our Doulton HCP Countertop water filter since 1996, having replaced the cartridges as necessary.
I have been reading the FAQs on your website, looking for any information regarding fluoride , since it has been added to our city drinking water this past week. Does the Doulton filtering system remove fluoride from the drinking water, and if not, is there any filter that does?

The Ultracarb candle may remove some fluoride as it does remove heavy metals however we do carry fluoride specific element which a second housing can be added to your existing HCP. The add on conversion can be found on the following link: http://www.doultonusa.com/doulton_water_filters/fluoride-arsenic-removal-upgrade-filter.htm

Fluoride removal in Gravity fed water filters

I purchased the GSS2 Gravity water system. I have a flouride filter for it too
but I can't figure out where to put it. I assumed that it would be
in the lower compartment and attached to the faucet. However, the
adapter on the flouride element doesn't allow for the large grouves
from the faucet to fit into it.

Any suggestions, please call me as I cannot find out on the website
how to attach this, and I want to use the unit as soon as possible.
Screw on the gray coupling onto the short (4") fluoride filter nozzle
then screw the other end onto the ceramic filters nozzle on the
underside of the upper chamber. Make sure you use both. Should you
have problem give us a call.

I think I get it. Use both floride filters - one at the underside of each of the ceramic filters on the upper side.
I never thought of that approach. Good move.

Can you tell me how much flouride reduction there is in your
Fluoride/heavy metal reduction element for gravity filters 2"x4"
Typical municipal water will have up to 2 ppm fluoride which will be about 400 gallons for each element to reduce fluoride to none detectable level. The media is far more effective when used in gravity mode as opposed to pressure mode.

Supercarb water filter filters out flouride?

I have recently purchased a Supercarb water filter, and am very impressed with it but woul like to know if it filters out flouride.
Supercarb ceramic candle is designed to remove volatile organic compounds (VOC) and microbial removal such as cysts and bacteria. We do have candle mount cartridge for fluoride removal however it is limited to that specific compound and is used in our IP200 and IP300 series filters. Unless you have high concentrations of fluorides (some well waters) rarely one would need that cartridge, Supercarb candle is more than one would ever need.

What the percentage reduction of asbestos is for your asbestos filter?

The efficiency of our ceramic water filtration technology is greater than 99.99% at 0.5 micron absolute ANSI standard which means that all particles greater than 0.5 microns are stopped at the surface of the ceramic candle. Asbestos particle size are in a range of 10 to 100 microns

What the percentage reduction of arsenic is for your filter?

Can you tell me what the percentage reduction of arsenic is for your filter? I also have another question. Does the pH of the water affect the percentage of arsenic reduction? Our water, which is from a private well, has a pH of 7.6 and arsenic content of 0.18 mg/l. The arsenic is really the only concern in terms of what we need to filter for. It would appear that Doulton's Model IP300PSCA-5 filter would be the best for our situation. Would you agree?
You are absolute correct as far IP300PSCA-5 model is ideal for your water conditions. The pH is surprisingly low for well water, almost neutral however your arsenic level is high compare to EPA maximum allowable of 0.010 mg./L. The arsenic cartridge will remove all of the arsenic to none detectable level for at least first 350 gallons.
